Collection: Reverse Glass Paintings
Color, Light and Reclaimed Glass
Bobby Anderson's reverse glass paintings transform reclaimed windows and architectural glass into luminous, one-of-one works of contemporary art.
Each piece is painted on the reverse side of the glass using layers of acrylic, enamel, line, and expressive color. Unlike a conventional painting, the image is viewed through the glass itself, allowing transparency, reflection, and changing light to become part of the experience.
The process requires the painting to be constructed in reverse. Details that would normally be added last are often painted first, followed by successive layers that build the finished image from front to back.
Reclaimed window frames remain an integral part of the work. Their age, texture, wear, and architectural history create a physical counterpoint to the energetic contemporary painting within them.
Some works are abstract and botanical. Others are figurative. Across the collection, vivid color, spontaneous drawing, layered surfaces, and changing light turn each reclaimed window into something entirely new.
Original glass. Original frame. A new life in color.
